YEAH!

We got the site!

Aparently it was no problem at all, and It was cheaper than originally quoted. I'm Very excited. I'm glad I also started looking for a DJ as well.

My cousin Dorothy had asked a friend for a quote. I'm glad she did, but it was way above my budget. I knew I had seen DJ's at a lesser price than he could offer, But cheaper does rarely mean better. So getting that info back got my butt in gear to look at more DJ's I needed quality and at a more than reasonable price.

I had filled in a quote request form on the Canadian Disk Jockey Ascosiation (CDJA) so that anyone in our area could get back to me with their quotes. There was one DJ in particular I had my eye on, But I figured it would be good to see what other people's services were and what prices there were. It was suprising to find that about 3/4 of the DJ's were already booked !!! AHHH!

Thankfully and luckily I was able to get an available DJ at my choice company from earlier that I had my eye on. And as I had thought they were a good choice

Anyway Gotta go, My ride for tonights fun is here...

Dinner and A Movie

Last night Drew and I decided to go out for dinner and a Movie. While we were at London Arms for dinner, Off in the corner I saw someone who looked farmilliar, But at first ignored it, She was too far away, and was unlikley to really be in St. Catharines because she lives in Brantford.

Drew and I continued to eat for a minute or two, Then she started laughing... Have you ever noticed how when someone laughs you can recognize them without even seeing them?

Well it confirmed the identity of the person who was fuzzy in vision off in the corner, So I went over and said Hi! It was Kayla from Rozaki. (Rozaki is the SCA household Drew and I are becoming part of in December.) She was sitting with Etienne also a household meber having drinks waiting on dinner, and about to go to the same movie. So we all joined together at the same table and had alot of fun. I don't think I've ever had a Chance to really hang out with Kayla And I knew of etienne, but really this was my first time to really get to know him.

It was alot of fun. Then we went off to watch Shark tale, Awsome movie, I'm not known for rating movies But I think I woud have given it 5 stars, Alot of funny laughs. After that, we met up with them At Patrick Sheenans, An Irish Pub in downtown St. Catharines. Etienne broguht us thees new chocolate ladybugs with this sour green stuff inside, They are really good. We had drinks, and listened to a guy perform live, He really knew how to keep the crowd going. Poor Kayla kept feeling like she was stuck in an SCA event though with all the pub songs.

We also found out Etienne is a Bouncer at a Pub called Red Square A gothic dance club. He brought us by there on our walk home and I got to check it out for the first time but only very quickly.

We had a fun night, There is somthing great about running into people you know.

Problem Resolved ... Mostly

So the Dean of Humanities called, unfortunately I wasn't home to receive the call. She talked with Drew.

She called with an apology for her employee's out of line behavior, She also informed Drew that he was wrong to tell me about the new policy he had set down, that he actually had no power or control over the rental of the facilities. That he just administrates the museum part of the property and that was it.

Boy did he put his foot in his mouth... I'd hate to be him when his boss came round to talk to him.

She informed us that there is actually a community services division that not only he should have directed us to contact but all the other employee's that work under him should have too. We could have had everything resolved months ago, no waiting for policy.

The Director of community Services will be contacting me Monday or Tuesday to see about making arrangements.

Drew and I also found another suitable beautiful location for our ceremony, So now we just have to decide is this place worth keeping? Or do we move on after all this mess? Should we take this as a sign of somewhere else is better? Or is it that all good things worth having take effort?

Mr. Hate

WOW!!!

I Just had a conversation with maybe one of the most rude and defensive people I have ever met! He is Curator/Director, Rodman Hall. Now newly owned by Brock university.

As mentioned earlier in my blog, Rodman Hall was to be the location of our ceremony for our wedding, That we were just waiting on some policy changes in order to book the grounds. Well we have been given quite a run around right up until Tuesday when I finally got in contact with the lady who books these things.Who then told me, their new policy does not allow any sort of entertaining like this. I was a little rattled by it, But saw it coming because of all the run around. Yes it's disappointing to loose a wedding space, It ALWAYS is. I did ask this lady to see what she could do as I was told I was penciled in for May 14th, and people have taken my phone number all summer and I was told I would be called back... I never was.

This morning this nice lady called me back to tell me that it was a no go. She spoke with those in charge, and it wasn't going to happen. I let her know how disappointing it was, because everyone all summer kept telling me that it was possible.

I Asked to speak to the Curator/ Director to at least explain to him some of the administrative problems I delt with. Not to complain about any one person, but the Just in general messy way things were delt with and how I was lost through all their mess.

This is where The Curator's bad side came out. He answered the phone immediately explaining why a wedding could not be held. and I couldn't get a word in edge wise to say, I KNOW I can't have a wedding there, I would just like to explain to you what happened this summer so you could do something about it.

I Started my story about how I met him back near the end of may or the beginning of June, and he immediately got defensive again saying how he has never met me. I Know I have met him, He even gave me his card. I still have it somewhere.

As I continued to try to explain the administrative blunders of the summer, he continued to not listen and be defensive. He came out with phrases Like " I brought this place out of financial ruin" that " You could sue me for all I care" that he is a "Very busy man" and talking to me is "A waste of my time" He said "I'm about ready to hang up on you"

WOW... this is a man with major communication problems. I by the end of the phone conversation had asked for his superiors phone number. He then got more defensive and called me a few derogatory names, I ignored them by just repeating over and over "please just give me the number to your superior ... Please just give me the number to your superior..." About 10 -12 times. He finally told me to go look it up myself but not quite as nicely as that. I did, I've lodged my official complaint with the secretary to the Dean of humanities. The Dean is his Superior.

I tell you, If I was his boss, He would be going to Anger Management classes, and comunication classes.... Infact I don't know why I would be his boss, I hope I wouldn't have hired him in the first place. But he is a Brock employee, probably hired by some comitee.

I don't wish this mans bitterness on anyone.

Well the search for a Ceremony location continues again....

P.S. The spell check on blogger wanted to turn The Curators name into Mr. Hate , That made me giggle, as that is somehow apropriate... he he he! That is how I guess i might refer to him on here.

2 Weeks Of Wedding

I've got a break away with time enough to write a blog right now. Don't know how far I'll get. It's been two Weeks of Wedding for me. I Went to BC for Kathryns Wedding, And I had so much fun. It was great to meet all of Kathryns friends out there, and I felt like I got along with the other brides maids very well.

Kathryns Brides Maid Sarah and her Husband are moving out this way, I'm sure I'll be seeing them more. By The way, If anyone knows of a place thats up for rent near to Humber collage, Or along the GO train route... Let me know. They need a place to live.

Then when I came back Drew was there to pick me up at the Airport. He took me out to a late dinner Then it was straight t work the next day. There would be an Ontario reception to be held for all the familly and fiends in Ontario on the coming weekend

My childhood best friend being married off reminded me how close our own wedding will be and I decided to check out one of our local bridal stores for inspiration.

Now in this Store, there is a Dress I fell in love with as far back as February. But It was extreamly out of budget. I decided I should use it as inspiration for elements I may find in other dresses when it came time to order. Then In August, When I went in to pick up my brides maid dress, The price on the wedding gown had made an amazing drop. It was SO CLOSE to budget, but for the alterations and cleaning, It was still over, And I was broke. So I couldn't get it. It ached to leave it behind then, Cause I wasn't sure it would be there when I came back next with thoose prices. I worried I would regret leaving the dress behind

But now, Here I am walking into the store looking for inspiration, Finding all the sales clerks running around like crazy preparing the store for a midnight maddness sale. I walked into the store... headed straight for where I rememberd my Favourite dress was. It wasn't marked down from it's August price.

I asked a nice sales lady to tell me if this dress would be any further reduced. She said they were reducing it to $250 dollars... I knew right then I was getting it no matter what, But I kept a poker face about the whole thing. Remebering my mother always telling me to bargain, even if I think I can't get it any better, cause you never really know what you can get. until you ask.

I calmly told the lady I would pay $200 for it... and she Agreed. YAY. Well I wasn't expecting to get my dress yet. So my Budget is a little tighter theese next couple weeks than expected right now. But I Have my Dress and I got an amazing deal

Then this Past weekend, On Saturday I went to Chris and Kathryns Ontario Reception. Jason and Kat were there. And I got to introduce Drew to Mrs. Stanger. A long overdue introduction.

Sunday I went to a Bridal show in Hamilton with Jen and Adam....

Now I am all wedding'd out. I have to take a break from all things wedding for a little while.

But now, I'm more excited than ever, to get this wedding off the ground. This has truly been two weeks of constant inspiration.
